YAHWEH Gives Herbs For The Service of Man

We know from reading YAHWEH's Word that herbs were readily used in YAHSHUA’S time. We read about the men who brought YAHSHUA frankincense and myrrh and the woman who anointed HIS feet with spikenard among various other instances where herbs are mentioned.
Although seeking YAHWEH through prayer should always be sought after first and foremost, YAHWEH gives herbs that aid and alleviate most ailments. There are also many herbal teas that have a pleasant culinary value. Here at YAHWEH's Victory Community we have the resources to apply ourselves to achieving knowledge of these things as we seek to occupy until YAHSHUA comes. So, we will present you with information about different herbal remedies and delicious wintertime teas in the coming weeks. Please check regularly as we will update this herbal section.
THE COLD AND FLU SEASON
As we enter the cold and flu season there are herbs that YAHWEH has provided that can be taken to bolster the immune system. Purchasing the herbs from health food stores can be a little costly. Ideally, you would grow your own the way we do here at Victory but we understand that everyone is not blessed with the time, resources and space that it takes to maintain an herb garden. However, if you can obtain these things, all you need to do is ask YAHWEH to help you, get a good book and the seeds to get started. Otherwise, you will have to purchase herbs from an established source. Though this is second best to your own home grown herbs, you can purchase many herbs from your local health food store or farmer’s market. Only as a last resort should you purchase mass-marketed herbs from stores such as Wal-Mart. These herbs typically are not as high quality as the other two options.
Although there are different herbs that can help bolster the immune system, obviously, it would be best to take these herbs before you fall sick! By preparing ahead for the cold and flu season your immune system will have already been built-up. Though these same herbs are also taken after the sickness has developed, let’s look at some of these herbs and how they are used.
Most herbs are taken as; Dosage-1 tsp. of fresh (a little less for dried) herb placed in 1-cup of boiling water and allowed to rest for for15 minutes. Drink three times a day preferably before eating. Any exception will be noted.
Echinacea- A good antiseptic (counteracting decomposition) and depurative (The act of purifying or freeing of fluids), it also helps to build immune system. Dosage- 1 tsp. of root in a tea made with 1-cup water. Drink three times a day.
Althea- (marshmallow) Helps to soothe tissue irritated from coughing. Use parts of whole plant in a tea or purchase a tincture (a solution of herb in alcohol) or capsules.
Chamomile- Good for fever in small children. Helps to calm and provide rest. Use flowers in a tea several times a day for adults and less often for children. (Always closely observe a child the first time that you administer any herb to watch for an allergic reaction.)
Horehound- Excellent for coughs. Helps to dislodge mucus from the lungs. Steep 1 tsp. of herb in ½ cup of water. Take only 1-1 ½ times daily.
Influenza Relief Tea
Juniper berries, Black elder flowers, Coltsfoot, Sallow Bark, Lance-leaf plantain
Mix in equal parts. Steep 1 tsp. in ½ cup boiling water. Take ½ cup a day, sweetened with honey, in mouthful doses.
*Note: You should either drink the teas unsweetened or purchase honey. It has been proven that a tablespoon of white sugar can reduce your immune system by 30%. Thereby ruining all you efforts!
